BASICS.
NAME : Gretel Lindsay Horton.
MEANING : GRETEL; The pet form of Grete, the German and Danish short form of Margaret. Derived from Latin Margarita, which was from Greek μαργαριτης (margarites) meaning "pearl", probably a borrowing from Sanskrit. LINDSAY; From a Scottish surname which was originally derived from a place name meaning "Lincoln's wetland" in Old English. HORTON; A town in Yorkshire England--the horrible town, or the town in the ravine, from Horr, a ravine.
NICKNAMES : She prefers to be called by her surname. She thinks "Gretel" makes her seem like she's too much of a girl when she's in front of the boys and that it makes her lose face.
BIRTHDATE : April 15, 1961.
AGE : Sixteen.
RESIDENCE : Warwick, England.
HOUSE : Gryffindor Sixth.
WAND : 8" Maple, dragon heartstring core.
PATRONUS : Squirrel.
ALIGNMENT : Bloodists are shitty pieces of horse dung.

BACKGROUND.
BIRTHPLACE : Warwick, England.
BLOOD : Halfblood.
FAMILY :
father; Charles Horton.
mother; Jessica Horton née Woods.
siblings; William, Jessica(deceased), Lloyd, Jeremy.
paternal grandfather; Basil Horton.

HISTORY.
Basil Horton was a keeper for the Falmouth Falcons before retiring from the team to start a broom company with fellow teammate Randolph Keitch. Soon after, he met a very lovely girl and they had three adorable children. The eldest of whom was named Charles. Charles followed in his father's footsteps and secured a position at the Comet Trading Company. The time came that Charles, too, met a very lovely girl by the name is Jessica, and the two had five lovely children: William, Catherine, Lloyd, Jeremy, and Gretel, one of whom(William) has taken his grandfather's place as keeper for the Falmouth Falcons.

As the youngest of five children, it was easy for Gretel to run around without her parents' scrutinizing her every move. Rather than following her sisters around, Gretel preferred trailing her brothers and getting dirty, which included, but was not limited to: wrestling in mud, chasing after frogs by the lake, throwing balls of dirt at each other, and quidditch. As the smallest of the group, Gretel was often assigned seeker, a position she realized she really enjoyed. Gretel liked to sit and focus, and had surprisingly good focus for a young girl, until the snitch showed up. Of course, spending most of her time with older boys, she picked up language that made her mother gasp and say "Gretel Lindsay, that is not the sort of language that should be coming from a little lady!" Gretel never really did learn when it wasn't an appropriate time to curse, and always fails to learn from her mistake when she gets in trouble for it.

She got older and school loomed ahead. To be quite honest, Gretel was dreading going to Hogwarts - She wanted to stay at home and play by the creek, but the time came and she was shipped off to join her siblings at school. It was awkward for her to share a room with a group of strange girls and she felt a bit alienated. For the first few months of her first year, Gretel spent most of her time in the common room, being a little bit of a loner, but not so much that her ability to interact with people in a social situation was questioned, and tried to build up her social circle as she had back home. A group of boys who didn't mind getting dirty, scraped, or bloody, who didn't mind girls enough to let one run around with them, but were enough of dicks to use that against her every once in a while. Once she found that group, she felt much more comfortable at school and felt far less homesick.

In terms of academics, Gretel did quite well, even if the reason she pushed herself wasn't so she was particularly interested in the subject or wanted to learn all she could, but so she could score in the top percentile of the class to show that snotty bastard that Gryffindors could get good marks. When second year came around, she didn't try out for the Quidditch team, despite her father's wishes. Her family being what it was in the industry, and her brother being an essential part of the house team, Gretel feared that things would be expected of her, both from her family and her team, and that she wouldn't be able to meet those expectations. She went for the team her fourth year, mostly because her brother had left school and he wouldn't be there for people to compare her against, although it would probably be infinitely times worse if she was outshone by someone who wasn't even on the team anymore. She made the house team as a seeker, and though she may not be as good as any of her brothers or her grandfather, it's enough to win games.

PERSONALITY.
When it comes to Gretel, what you see is what you get. She's friendly and easy-going with a wicked sense of humor, but has a bit of a hidden attitude that almost dares you to start a fight with her. She wears her heart and her emotions on her sleeve, but gets angry when people take advantage of it. Though she may not be the loudest or the most aggressive of the group, Gretel is anything but a doormat and is not the sort of girl to shit from anyone. If you say something she doesn't like, she won't hesitate to punch you in the face and fully expects to be hit back. She's been getting into brawls and fights for as long as anyone can remember, most of which have been started because people had assumed they could walk over her. She prefers fights to bottling things up inside, because it's healthy. Suppressing emotions makes people do mad things, like randomly run into a strange house and kill everyone inside, and Gretel would very much like to avoid spending a lifetime in Azkaban.

Gretel is unfortunately combative and competitive. She loves to fight and she loves to win, and when she loses, she will pout and mope for days. Gretel is the farthest thing from a gracious loser or a good sport and makes no effort to hide it. She likes to win, but she only wins fairly. The concept of dishonesty doesn't compute with her and she gets upset when people cheat their way through and she makes no hesitation to stop them and give them a piece of her mind, no matter who it may be. What's the fun in the game if you don't do it right? She gets extremely passionate about everything she takes part in and becomes absolutely invested in it, which just makes her more defeated when she doesn't win.

APPEARANCE.
Gretel has a big mouth and a wide smile that easily takes up half her face. Wide-eyed and easily at least three inches shorter than most girls her age, Gretel is often mistaken for being younger than she is and raises quite a few eyebrows when she begins spewing filth and ruins the image of the sweet little girl. If her smile takes up half her face, her eyes take up a good quarter. Gretel's eyes are shockingly large and make her look startled and deceptively innocent both at the same time, neither of which . She has a small build - good for playing seeker, bad for fighting. Her opponents usually overpower her, and Gretel is bad at using her size and agility to her advantage when she's not on a broom. She does, however, have a surprisingly powerful punch for someone her size, and can do a bit of damage before she's knocked out or someone pulls her off.

Her general appearance is messy, whether it's that her clothes are wrinkled and unfitted, or that her hair is uncombed, or that she has a bit of ink smudged on her cheek, or a combination of the three. Gretel's wardrobe consists of clothing that is probably a bit too masculine for a girl of her size and feminine clothing that seem a bit off, as if there aren't any two articles of clothing that look like they could complete an outfit. She has an easy posture, with relaxed shoulders and her hands stuck in her pockets, which makes her seem very approachable.
